Biography
I am the Associate Professor of Paediatric Surgery at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health and a Consultant Neonatal and Paediatric Surgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and University College London Hospitals (UCLH). I am a member of the colorectal service at the department of Specialist Neonatal and Paediatric Surgery, GOSH, as well as a member of the fetal surgery team at the Centre for Prenatal Therapy, UCLH. I have an academic interest in prenatal treatment of congenital diseases, as well as the development of novel, minimally invasive treatment platforms for fetal and neonatal therapy. I have a total of 67 peer reviewed publications and have obtained a total of over £3 million in research grants as primary applicant or co-applicant. I lead a research group working on fetal immunological responses to fetal intervention, and identifying novel stem cell sources for in utero transplantation and other pre/postnatal regenerative medicine applications. Moreover, my group are investigating the utility of nanotechnology and artificial intelligence/machine learning for pre/postnatal diagnosis and treatment of rare congenital and acquired diseases.
