“Craniofacial and Neural Development" Closing with the Peter Thorogood Memorial Lecture

Because of the pandemic, the 33rd Head Group Meeting - Craniofacial and Neural Development will be held remotely via Zoom (FREE registration). The meeting will take place on the 29th of January, 2021, in the afternoon. In order to foster interactions and a lively discussion, the format will be more workshop-like. The meeting will conclude as usual with the Peter Thorogood Memorial Lecture to be delivered at 4.00 pm by Professor Robert Kelsh (University of Bath) who will talk about “Painting by numbers – zebrafish neural crest and pigment pattern formation?

Background of Meeting

Following the 1987 BSDB Meeting on "Craniofacial Development" organized by Peter Thorogood and Cheryll Tickle, the organizers and other colleagues (Andrew Lumsden, Mark Ferguson, Gudrun Moore, Alisdair Ivens, Julian Lewis and Gillian Morriss-Kay) decided to start holding annual informal meetings to increase communication between laboratories working on various aspects of the development of the head, to offer the opportunity to young scientists to present their work in a friendly and stimulating environment and promote collaborative research. The group has met annually since 1989, and the initial number of participants, about 20 people, rose very rapidly through word of mouth with more groups asking to be included in the mailing list. Over the last few years there have always been over one hundred people attending the Meeting.

Presenting

Oral Presentations: If you wish to present your work (5 min slot), please indicate this by answering 'yes' on the booking page and then emailing the title by no later than the 8th January, and the poster or extended abstract of your work and your full affiliation to Jonathan McCree by 15th January 2021. Please remember that slots are allocated on a "first come, first served basis". Early registration is recommended.

Registration

As the meeting will be held virtually this year because of the pandemic, there will be no fee to pay, it will be an entirely free event.

The deadline to register to attend the meeting is Friday 15th January 2020.
