The dinner took place on Friday 25th November 2016 and was attended by 96 people (Alumni, Staff and Students).

The pre-dinner lecture was given by Professor Ivan Parkin, Dean of MAPS Faculty, titled "Adventures in materials science from window coatings to water repellent surfaces", which was an excellent start to the evening. 

Sadly Professor Alwyn Davies was unable to attend the dinner and Professor Peter Garrat kindly stepped in at the last minute to give the after dinner speech which was highly entertaining.

Professor Claire Carmalt was congratulated on being the first female Head of Department and Tobias Gill received the Ramsay Medal for for his presentation entitled “Controlling the electric and magnetic properties of the two-dimensional material silicone”.

Menu on the night:

Starters
  • Smoked salmon salad with celeriac, chilli and prawns
  • Farmhouse ham with celeriac rémoulade
  • Fresh heritage tomato salad with rock salt, olive oil and micro leaves
    Main Course
    • Herb crusted cod loin with a red pepper puree, sliced green beans and chorizo sauce
    • Braised shoulder of lamb with creamed potatoes and baby vegetables in a red wine jus
    • Wild mushroom gnocchi with artichokes and spinach
        Dessert
        • Black forest trifle
        • Brioche bread and butter pudding with sauce anglaise
        • Dark chocolate torte with burnt orange and cream
