The Denis Rooke PGR Bursary is awarded to a deserving first year post-graduate research student and is renewable for a further two years subject to the students’ satisfactory academic performance.
The award is based on financial need and academic merit and is intended to help those from groups historically under-represented in science and engineering careers and in the Department.
How to apply and selection

- A statement of interest of a maximum of 500 words:
a) Telling us about yourself,
b) Why you applied to study in UCL Chemical Engineering,
c) How you plan to use the bursary if you were successful,
d) Why you deserve the bursary, - Answering the questions, as per the ‘Financial Position Questions’ (see Appendix 1 below), in relation to your financial position. *
For the Academic merit the original programme application form will also be used as part of the review and selection process.
*The successful awardee will be asked to provide further evidence of their financial position in conjunction with their answers.

Renewal of bursary
For renewal in the second year the awardee must be on target to complete the MPhil transfer by the 18-month deadline as confirmed by the primary and secondary supervisor.
For renewal in the third year the awardee must have successfully passed their MPhil viva by the 18-month deadline.
Results
The Department of Chemical Engineering will make the final decision and contact the awardee by 29 March 2024.

Q5. [Mandatory] Please provide a figure for your household's gross annual income (you must convert this into UK £ sterling - numerical values only).
Please indicate the gross annual income of your household for the year prior to the beginning of your course. This should include all earning members of the household whose wages go towards the general maintenance of the household, such as rent and bills.
