Research summary

Tom is a lecturer in ChemicalEngineering at UCL and has held an EPSRC Fellowship. He is an expert in thecreation and advanced characterisation of materials for electrochemicalapplications across supercapacitors, batteries, fuel cells and catalysis. In particularhe is exploring applications for 2D carbons, carbon nitrides, black phosphorousand transition metal oxides created through gentle exfoliation; the developmentof new metal oxide, sulphide and nitride nanoparticles for high-power energystorage applications; the utilisation of ultrasonic spray printing for advancedmanufacture of electrochemical devices; and the application of electrochemicalatomic force microscopy to study fundamental processes in batteries and fuelcells.
