Research summary

Research Interests: Hydrocarbon Catalytic Reactions (Coking/Deactivation of Zeolites, Polymer Recycling via Catalytic Cracking of Plastic Waste)

Dr Manos's research activities are primarily in the area of Hydrocarbon Catalytic Reactions (Coking/Deactivation of Zeolites, Polymer Recycling via Catalytic Cracking of Plastic Waste), Homogeneous Catalysis, Supercritical Fluid Reactions, and Molecular Simulation/Statistical Mechanical Modelling (Adsorption on Zeolites, Supercritical Fluids, Electronic Functional Materials).

Dr Manos is co-editor of the book “Adsorption and Phase Behaviour in Nanochannels and Nanotubes” published by Springer Publishers in 2010 and reviewer for a number of international journals. He is a member of the EPSRC Peer Review College, a European Research Programmes Evaluator and reviewer ofinternational research grant proposals. Dr Manos is a member of the UCL Materials Chemistry Centre.

Dr Manos is a member of the Greek Engineering Council (Chartered Engineer Status) and the Greek Institute of Chemical Engineers. He is also a graduate member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and a member of its Applied Catalysis and Reaction Engineering Subject Group.

Biography

Dr George Manos graduated from Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1984. He worked as postgraduate research assistant at Technical University of Berlin on wood liquefaction and then moved to University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany for his PhD in catalytic reaction engineering which he obtained in 1989. Dr Manos worked as Production and Development Manager of Metal Deco Products in Vivechrom, member of the Akzo-Nobel group. He then moved to UK to work as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UMIST and Lecturer at South Bank University. Dr Manos joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at UCL in 1998 and is currently a Senior Lecturer.
