Lecturer (Teaching)
Biography
Justin Siefker joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at University College London in 2013 and is currently a Lecturer (Teaching) focusing on the Integrated Engineering Programme. Before his current appointment, he was a researcher in the Centre for Nature Inspired Engineering where he focused on the development of nanostructured biomaterials for the delivery of biological therapeutics. He has a passion for multi-scale design and is drawn to complex interdisciplinary challenges.
Teaching Summary
My current teaching focuses on the Integrated Engineering Programme and is centred around the practice of engineering in the context of scenario design projects. For students, design projects are the closest analogue to the professional practice of chemical engineering and enable the integration of core learning with its application. Design projects also enable the practice of computational, laboratory, and professional competencies in ‘real-world’ conditions.
