Adaptive & Responsive Nanomaterials Group publishes Cover Article in Nanoscale Horizons
28 April 2023
Researchers in the Adaptive & Responsive Nanomaterials group published the front cover story in the April issue of Nanoscale Horizons, a leading journal in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
In this work, lead authors Dr Jugal Suthar and Dr Alberto Alvarez investigated with coworkers from the School of Pharmacy and Imperial College the impact of tailoring the active sites of the biosensor surface via molecular self-assembly to mirror lateral analyte feature sizes. The team related the enhanced sensitivity to improved surface anchoring due to reduced steric effects as a result of sensor nanostructuration and provided guidelines for design considerations. Corresponding author Prof Stefan Guldin comments: "This study is a significant step forward in our efforts to develop reliable diagnostic assays via liquid biopsies from easily accessible bodily fluids. We are delighted that the relevance of our findings is recognised in this way."
