A-level Virtual School Visits

13 July 2020

In light of the pandemic, with all events being cancelled we decided to offer online school visits. We have delivered two A-level classes; one to Haggerston School sixth form and another to Callington Community College based in Cornwall. The talk covered all things energy production and storage and also delved into uni life. This lead to a lot of great questions and a good discussion.  We also did two live demonstrations – a lemon battery and hydrogen powered race cars. These always go down well and are a great way of demonstrating the concepts we had just introduced.

For the Haggerston talk, we were lucky enough to be joined by one of our Post-doc members – Theo who was taking part in a lab pilot scheme. This meant he was able to give an impromptu tour of the electrochemical innovation lab research complex.

The students were also starting to think about applying to university, so had some questions about uni life.
