H2 fuel production from water driven by solar energy

A paper from the group of Prof Junwang Tang entitled Stable Complete Water Splitting by Covalent Triazine‐based Framework CTF‐0, was published on 24th March 2020 in ChemCatChem, DOI: 10.1002/cctc.201902396.

Solar driven water splitting for H2 fuel production shows a strong potential not only to solve the environmental issue related to greenhouse gas (CO2) emission but also provide a sustainable pathway for solar energy storage into a clean fuel.  In this paper, Prof. Tang reported a photocatalytic one-step process which can split water simultaneously into H2 and O2 gas by a robust CTF-0 polymer composed of earth abundant carbon and nitrogen, decorated by two cocatalysts Co3O4 and Pt. Such achievement paves a way for H2 fuel production from water by an economical technology.
