Ramsay Society Dinner and Prize Winners 2019

UCL Chemical Engineering celebrates the Ramsay Society Dinner 2019 at the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel.
On Friday 22d February, the Department of Chemical Engineering had the pleasure of welcoming 190 guests to the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel to host the 2019 Ramsay Society Dinner.
The event brought together students, staff and alumni to celebrate the Department’s achievements and included a one-hour drinks reception followed by a 3-course dinner, speeches and awards ceremony.

Awards Ceremony winners:
SIR DENIS ROOKE RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP - For outstanding academic performance since MPhil submission.
- Winner: Jennifer Hack (Supervisors Prof Paul Shearing and Prof Dan Brett)
SIR DENIS ROOKE SCHOLARSHIP - For the most outstanding first-year undergraduate.
- Winner: Honora Driscoll
CHARLES KEEL AWARD - to support two promising undergraduate students starting the second and third year of their programme.
- Year 2 winner: Yanzhe Wen
- Year 3 winner: Son Hoang Luu Nguyen
LE ROSSIGNOL SCHOLARSHIP - Most academically outstanding Year 2 student.
Winner: Napattorn Kaweeyanun (not in attendance)
NEWTON PRIZE - For the most deserving PhD graduate in the field of sustainable development.

CheERS Society poster competition
The competition had 5 winners and 33 participants:

- Best Poster: Conor Waldron

Digital Applications International Limited (DAI) Awards:
DAI BEST VIDEO AWARD - Best short video explaining a difficult chemical engineering concept.
- Winner: Marta Ganet - (not in attendance)
DAI BEST PAPER AWARD - For the best paper published in 2017, authored or co-authored by a UCL Chemical Engineering student.
- Winner: Oluwamayowa Amusat (not in attendance)
DAI BEST DEMONSTRATOR AWARD to the best demonstrator as nominated by students.
- Winner: Maria Apostolopoulou - (Supervisor Prof Alberto Striolo )
