Science 4 Clean Energy video: No risk = No Energy
5 December 2019
Science 4 Clean Energy (S4CE) is a research project financed by the European Commission and coordinated by UCL - Chemical Engineering and Earth Sciences Department, looking at the quantification and reduction of the environmental impacts of geo-energy operations. We are working on making clean energy safer.
Our planet can efficiently supply humanity's energy needs. The sub-surface is a source of energy – it is hot and it contains many resources. With care, we can prevent environmental impacts and reduce the carbon footprint of our expanding society.
We are developing tools and monitoring geo-energy operations, working on mitigating risks such as fugitive gas emissions, seismic activities and underground water contamination that can occur during geo-energy operations: No risk, No energy.
We are developing recommendations, best practices and guidelines for policy makers and industries to implement it in their energy production activities.
Our objective is to reach a clean energy production system with zero environmental nor societal impact.
