ChERD Special Issue Call for Papers on Nature Inspired Chemical Engineering

5 April 2019

Chemical Engineering Research and Design (ChERD) is planning a special issue on Nature-Inspired Chemical Engineering.

Chemical Engineering Research and Design (CHERD) call for papers

The issue will be co-edited by Prof. Marc-Olivier Coppens (UCL Chemical Engineering), Dr. Catherine Xuereb and Dr. Vincent Gerbaud (Laboratoire de Génie Chimique, Université de Toulouse, France).

The aim of this special issue is to bring forth theoretical advances, applications and tools in the emerging field of Nature-Inspired Chemical Engineering (NICE).

Particular emphasis will be placed on products and processes being inspired by nature and related to chemical engineering. Classically, chemical engineering deals with the processing of matter and energy, which can be extended to information, covering similar areas to Nature.

Interactions within and between processes are important as well. More than just mimicking natural objects, tools or processes, NICE should question the goals and desired functions it pursues, in the same way, that nature’s most crucial processes and tools relate to aims with strategies to cope with changes in its environment. This requires fundamental mechanistic understanding.

The deadline for submission of manuscripts is 1 August 2019.

Please notify Managing Editor Catherine Cliffe at ccliffe@icheme.org no later than 1 May 2019 whether you intend to submit, along with a provisional title and authors.

Visit the ChERD Journal homepage for more information.
