Double success for Haroun Mahgerefteh

Congratulations to Professor Haroun Mahgerefteh for being awarded both the Daphne Jackson Fellowship and Academic lead of a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor application.

  • Daphne Jackson Fellowship to support Dr Elena Catalanotti for a 0.5 FTE, 3 year PDRA jointly funded by UCL Engineering Faculty and EPSRC. The project entitled Comparative Assessments of Emerging Biomass Gasification Strategies is supervised by Haroun as the primary supervisor and Richard Porter and Mazaher Molaei Chalchooghi as secondary supervisors.
  • Academic lead of a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor application. Starting in September, the award will sponsor Ms Shahana Buchanan for 3 years to support the Teaching of Advanced Safety and Loss Prevention to the 3rd year BEng students by providing the industrial perspective. Chairperson of the IChemE Safety and Loss Prevention subject  group, Shahana is currently responsible for Process Safety for 480 Nestlé manufacturing plants in over 80 countries world-wide employing over 300,000 people. Amongst her achievements, in  2006 Shahana was invited to Buckingham Palace by Her Majesty the Queen and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh to recognise her contribution to the British Scientific Community.
