Other services 

Out-patient clinics for patients with mitochondrial disorders are held regularly. 

Our nurse specialist also offers invaluable practical advice concerning available social and income support. 

Specialist speech and language therapy and diet advice are available if there are problems with swallowing or nutrition.

Occupational therapy, physiotherapy and orthotics are also available and can improve mobility and enable an independent lifestyle. 

Telephone clinics are available between clinic appointments. These clinics are run by the clinical nurse specialist and physiotherapist. The telephone clinics support medical needs, and offer advice and support.

Patient information days 

There is an annual patient information day for both patients and their relatives/carers to give practical support and an update of current research in the field.

This is scheduled for the summer of 2016 and more information will be available in due course.
