We were pleased to announce that the MRC Centre was been renewed for a further five years, and celebrated a very successful 6th Annual UK Neuromuscular Translational Research Conference at the Medical Sciences Teaching Centre, Oxford! Once again the conference was hosted jointly by the MRC Centre and the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

The key diseases themes for 2013 were:

• Translational Research in Human Mitochondrial Diseases
• Neuromuscular Channelopathies: Bench to Bedside
• Muscular Dystrophy
• Translational Research in Peripheral Nerve Diseases

Guest speakers included Professor David Beeson, Professor Patrick Chinnery, Professor Steve Cannon, Professor Silvère M. van der Maare and Professor Mike Shy.
