Libraries

UCL SSEES Library houses almost 400,000 printed volumes, extensive archive holdings relating to 20th century European history, and a unique research collection of film and documentary material relating to the region. Specialist databases include many of the East View services and Brill's Primary Source Online databases, Readex's East European Newspapers 1835-1922; Baltic News Service; Central and Eastern European Online Library.

Cambridge University Library's Slavonic Collections add up to approximately 140,000 items, and there are extensive rare items and special collections, including the Catherine Cooke collection of items relating to Russian and Soviet design.

The University of Manchester Library's resources include: approx. 45,000 books and 100 current periodicals; a collection of medieval Slavic manuscripts and the personal archives of a range of Russian émigré cultural figures at John Rylands Library (Deansgate); datasets based on annotated catalogues of Russian television daily news recordings related to three AHRC-funded projects.

As well as the Bodleian (copyright) library, there is the Taylor Institution library for Russian and East European Studies, including the Taylorian Slavonic Annexe - a dedicated library with over 100,000 books, and 180 current periodical titles in the fields of Slavonic and East European languages. Special collections include the Dawkins Collection (with pre-1800 material).

The British Library's collections in the field of Slavonic, East European and Soviet Studies are the largest in the UK. The partnership between CEELBAS and the British Library includes research training events offering a practical introduction to these collections and other relevant resources for UK-based research on Russia and Eastern Europe.
