Database of European Research

22 September 2016

The European Institute (EI) here at UCL is seeking to compile a database of academics from across the university whose expertise lies in areas affected by the recent vote to leave the EU or whose research interests relate more broadly to Europe.

The aim is to compile a comprehensive list of individuals that the Institute can use for internal purposes (such as sourcing participants for UCL events and workshops) and for proactive external engagement (linking UCL expertise to calls for evidence and providing opportunities to network with policymakers).

As the recent fallout from the referendum has demonstrated, few areas of British public and intellectual life will be left untouched by the vote to leave. As such, we are keen to reach individuals in as many Departments and Institutes as possible, especially those whose research interests lie outside of those disciplines most commonly associated with the study of the EU (politics, law, and economics). We hope to offer academics the chance for greater visibility of their research to the public and policymakers and to provide opportunities for enhancing their professional networks within the policymaking domain.

We ask that members of academic staff who believe their research touches on areas affected by British withdrawal from the EU to register their interest by emailing benjamin.martill@ucl.ac.uk with details of their expertise and research agenda. Registration of interest involves no specific obligations or commitments, and simply allows the EI to identify individuals with a mutual interest and stake in issues brought forth by British withdrawal from the EU. We look forward to hearing from you in due course.
