In this gala benefit to support Told by an Idiot* this will be a night where we explore comedy and performance, and investigate the neuroscience of humour and laughter, with comedians, performers and neuroscientists. Hosted by the incomparable Abigoliah Shauman, comedians including Ian Stone, Ramadeep Mungur, Kuan Wen Huang,Sophie Woolley and Howard Read will make us laugh, while neuroscientists Sophie Scott, Antonia Hamilton and Dwaynica Greaves find out what is going on in their heads, and in the audience’s brains. Impressionist Duncan Wisbey (from BBC Radio 4's Dead Ringers) will explore what makes voices funny, and the musician Jonny Best will show how a piano accompaniment can help the punchlines land in a silent movie. The evening will finish with a Q and A with the performers, joined by Paul Hunter from Told by an Idiot, and a chance to pick some comedy brains.
*we have priced this event to make it affordable for a range of people. All profits are going to Told by an Idiot to help fund their work, taking theatre and comedy into communities that get little access to theatre. When you buy your tickets, you can also choose to make an extra donation to their work.
