Dr Beatrice Melinek and Dr Stephen Morris have written an article in The Conversation titled "Coronavirus: how the pharma industry is changing to produce a vaccine on time" that discusses how times of crisis accelerate medical developments
The arcticle written by Beattie Melinek, a researcher in the Future Targeted Healthcare Manufacturing Hub based in UCL Biochemical Engineering and co-author Stephen Morris, a researcher at UCL Biochemical Engineering, has been published in The Conversation. They discuss how medicine developments are accelerated in times of crisis, such as x-ray photography in WWI or penicillin manufacture in WWII, along with the reasons it can be difficult to introduce changes in vaccine manufacture technology, and the ways thinking is changing in response to the current heath crisis to overcome these.
