Kimberly Roach is a student in the 2023-24 cohort of UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP)'s Master of Public Administration (MPA).
Kimberly Roach is a multi-faceted, creative sustainable development professional from Jamaica. She holds a Bachelor of Science in International Relations from the University of the West Indies, Mona (Jamaica). Prior to her studies at the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose at UCL, Kimberly worked as a civil servant in Jamaica with a central focus on MSME and Entrepreneurship Policy. Her career as a development practitioner has seen her crafting novel solutions to address complex challenges in a range of contexts, To this end, she has successfully developed and managed policy-driven initiatives to address a number of social issues in Jamaica and the Caribbean. More recently, she developed and launched the Stigma Free Spaces Project which focuses on social sustainability as a driver for inclusivity, innovation and productivity in private and public sector settings. Stigma Free Spaces was lauded by the Mayor of Kingston and the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica and was later adopted by the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipality and local businesses. Kimberly also works on climate change adaptation and financing for MSMEs, and founded a purposefully-driven company to assist in the socio-economic empowerment of rural women in Jamaica. Her primary research interest is in exploring the state’s capacity to solve complex challenges using mission-driven public financing and, more generally, building interconnected data systems to inform policy and public investment decisions.
