The fourteenth edition of the International Conference on Energy Efficiency and Sustainability in Architecture and Urbanism (EESAP 14) addressed the theme of 'Care for the HABITAT/HABITAT for care', understanding HABITAT in all its scales; from the territorial, the urban to even the building scale. This double approach implies rethinking the following: how do we take care of or what is needed to take care of this habitat? How should this habitat be for our care, and to guarantee the quality of life of people?

The objective of the year’s conference was to debate on addressing the opportunities generated by new models that are more eco-friendly, digital, resilient and better adapted to current and future challenges, to achieve a strategic confluence among education, research and production. Also with an aim to involve construction industry agents in order to increase competitiveness by implementing new technologies in activities where diffuse but wide-ranging expertise is required in a collaborative business environment.

Dr Freire Trigo said: “I spoke about urban regeneration approaches to the built environment, specifically focusing in London, its ‘good growth’ approach, and the impacts of such approach in reality. The discussion that followed was very good and I found all the sessions extremely inspiring.”
