Private Management of the Urban Public Realm
5 November 2015
Dr Claudio De Magalhães and Sonia Freire Trigo have published their RICS-sponsored research into the implications of the contracted-out management of the urban public realm.
The research looked at several cases of private and voluntary management of publicly owned spaces in London to investigate the impacts those various arrangements on the key attributes of publicness (openness, access and accountability) and to understand their potential impacts on the aspirations of various stakeholders and on urban life.
