Managing External Public Space and funded by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) in 2002-2003.
Overview
This project examined the management of external public space in England. The context is a gradual deterioration in the quality of public space that has been undermining the liveability of many urban areas.
By undertaking a wide range of case studies, the team sought to identify best practice and to develop a basis for local authorities to critique their own management of external public space. The result was a combined research report and guide to improving practice.
