We are thrilled to warmly welcome all back to campus to join us for our first Public Lecture of the 2023-24 series.

Join us for an enlightening online discussion featuring the esteemed speaker, Franklin Obeng-Odoom, as we delve into the pressing issue of cumulative ecological crises and the urgent need for transformative solutions. In the face of the escalating climate crisis and other interconnected challenges, it has become imperative to reevaluate the very foundations of our current systems.

Our event will explore the core problems we confront today and seek answers to how these issues can be effectively addressed. Franklin Obeng-Odoom will guide us through a thought-provoking dialogue that transcends the boundaries of traditional debates. Instead of dwelling on well-trodden paths, this event will introduce a fresh perspective.

We will go beyond the familiar arguments of 'green growth,' 'just transition,' 'limits to growth,' 'degrowth,' and 'nature-based solutions.' Instead, we will embark on an exploration of a new paradigm – one that revolves around the concept of global ecological reparations.

Franklin Obeng-Odoom will introduce us to the key principles of this paradigm, including the notions of rent theft, just land, and the Global South. Through his expertise and insights, he will demonstrate that this is not merely another political economy but a just ecological political economy.

Don't miss this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the profound changes needed to secure a sustainable future. Join us for an engaging conversation that promises to expand your horizons and inspire you to think differently about our world's ecological challenges.
