ISH Director announces new staff and promotions

Professor May Cassar, Director of the UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage (ISH), has just announced a number of additions and changes to the Institute staff.

The UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage (UCL ISH) is pleased to announce the following new academic and professional staff enhancements to the ISH team in readiness for the new academic year (2019-20):

Professor Adam Gibson joins ISH on part-time secondment for two years from UCL Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering as Professor of Heritage Science, a function he shares with Professor Matija Strlic. He will enhance ISH’s capability in imaging and visualisation of cultural heritage.

Professor Matija Strlic takes on the new role of Director of the ISH Academy International. He has re-located to Slovenia from where he will work part-time for two years. Through the Academy, he will give focus to ISH’s external activities including guest lectures, workshops and short and executive courses.

Associate Professor Katherine Curran has been promoted in the latest senior promotions round at UCL. Congratulations on the well-deserved recognition.

Dr Scott Allan Orr has been newly appointed as Lecturer in Heritage Data Science. He also assumes the role of Assistant Course Director for the new Data Science for Cultural Heritage MSc and will manage ISH’s Imaging Lab at UCL Here East.

Dr Himantha Cooray has been newly appointed as Post-Doctoral Research Assistant on the EU’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation project, ‘Active and Intelligent Packaging Materials and Display Cases as a Tool for Preventive Conservation of Cultural Heritage’ (APACHE).

Dr Robyn Parker has recently been appointed to the part-time role of Bartlett Public Policy Project Manager, while continuing her role as part-time SEAHA Manager.

Cécile Brémont has recently joined as part-time SEAHA Administrator, a role she shares with Robyn.

Cecilia Bembibre Jacobo has recently jointed as European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science (E-RIHS) UK Admin and Communications Assistant.
