Dr Valentina Marincioni is a Lecturer (Teaching) and Research Fellow in Building Physics.
Her research focuses on moisture transfer within the building fabric, combining laboratory experiments, in-situ monitoring, hygrothermal simulations and predictive modelling. She has been working on the development of moisture risk assessment methods and protocols, novel wall insulation systems, and strategies for the energy efficiency of historic and traditional buildings. Valentina has been involved in consultancy, policy advice and training of construction professionals around the issues of moisture in buildings. She sits in the committee for BS 5250 Management of moisture in buildings – Code of practice and PAS 2038 on Retrofitting non-domestic properties for improved energy efficiency. Internationally, she leads the UCL team in the IEA Task 59/Annex 76 on Renovating Historic Buildings Towards Zero Energy.
She is also technical director of the UK Centre for Moisture in Buildings, where she coordinates the technical working groups, developing collaborations with industry and government around moisture in buildings.
