Professor Tim Dwyer wins the prestigious CIBSE Gold Medal

Professor Dwyer’s long, storied career began in London South Bank University and has encompassed work in industry, research and teaching. He led the CIBSE ASHRAE Group for twenty years, is Technical Editor at the CIBSE Journal, is Managing Editor of Building Services Engineering, Research and Technology, chair of the CIBSE technical Symposium and lectures at South Bank and UCL's Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering, where he became an Honorary Professor in Building Services Systems in 2016.

The CIBSE Gold Medal was first awarded by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers in 1912. Being the highest award given by the organisation, the Gold Medal is given to practitioners who have had a substantial career at the forefront of the advancement in the disciplines of building services engineering.

Prof Dwyer said in his acceptance speech:

““My delight in linking industry/academia filled the last quarter century with Journal CPD articles enthused, in recent years, by editor Alex, presentations, seminars, and events through which I have been privileged to connect with 1000’s of students and industry activists.”

Dejan Mumovic, Director of UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering, said:

““We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. Tim has demonstrated this over and over in the last 12 years at UCL. He has played a key role in many of major efforts including the development of the MSc Smart Buildings and Digital Engineering, MEng Engineering and Architectural Design and BSc | MEng Sustainable Built Environments, Energy and Resources. Tim's contribution to the field of building services engineering is unparalleled from CIBSE ASHRAE Group, CIBSE Technical Symposium and CPD sections in CIBSE Journal. It has been a great honour working with Tim."
