Join us: KTP Associate / Senior KTP Associate

22 September 2016

Central House

The UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering (IEDE) is located within The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (BSEER). UCL IEDE pursues a deeper understanding of the part played by choices relating to buildings and the urban environment in tackling some of the greatest challenges facing mankind, in areas such as health, human well-being, productivity, energy use and climate change.

The Bartlett is looking to appoint a PhD holder or equivalent seeking the unique opportunity to work with two prestigious organisations: UCL and KSBC Limited. The postholder will predominantly be based at KSBC offices in Isleworth. The post is funded for 2 years in the first instance. This Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) requires a self-starter with the ability and confidence to contribute to the development and delivery of a robust, automated and standardised framework for evaluating a commercial building's technological service characteristics in terms of their technological availability, readiness and capacity in support of relocation activities. The KTP Associate will, after reviewing existing taxonomy literature against existing TPC frameworks (this includes understanding the existing KSBC approach), identify key variables which influence buildings technological performance and their weighting factors in order to develop a taxonomy framework based on these developed variables. Related activities will be to create a survey and associated protocols such as; client output measurements, structure for analysis of results, reporting format and validating the survey data.

Ultimately, the Associate will have to create a web-based platform which will automate the TPC production. The Associate will also be expected to lead relevant marketing and training activities, coordinate meetings, and conduct a number of interviews with KSBC clients.

The successful candidate will ideally possess a PhD in Built Environment or Engineering fields or Masters level qualification and strong relevant commercial or design industry experience where in sum it is deemed to be the equivalent of a PhD. The applicant should be seeking a challenging role requiring the confidence to work with KSBC senior management and staff across subsidiaries, key clients and suppliers and also academic staff within The Bartlett.

Closing Date: 30 November 2016

We particularly welcome female applicants and those from an ethnic minority, as they are under-represented within UCL at this level.
