Duties and Responsibilities

The post will play a critical role in a programme of research and development which will provide the tools and analysis to enable key stakeholders to plan and manage the development of cities to provide high-quality built environments whilst limiting energy demand, carbon emissions and environmental impact. The role will make a significant contribution to our models which demonstrate how buildings could make very large reductions in their direct and indirect CO2 emissions. To facilitate this several specific objectives will be set.

This post has funding for 18 months in the first instance. Further funding may be available.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate is a highly quantitative, analytical person with an expert knowledge of computer programming and computer platforms, a keen interest in the built environment and multi-disciplinary research. The focus of this post is the development of analytical and modelling approaches to understanding and predicting energy demand at the level of cities and national building stock.  The research will involve manipulation and interpretation of large datasets. A passion for research and a demonstrable capacity to work in highly interdisciplinary environments and to deliver robust research are essential.
