UCL-Energy doctoral researcher Joel Guilbaud completes his PhD viva

On 3 October 2016, PhD student Joel Guilbaud presented his thesis titled ‘Hybrid Renewable Power Systems for the Mining Industry: System Costs, Reliability Costs, and Portfolio Cost Risks.’
Joel was supervised by Professor Neil Strachan (Primary) and Professor Mark Barrett (secondary).
Of his viva experience and time at UCL-Energy Joel said: "The viva was the end of a very long journey of hard work and dedication. I am very happy to have concluded this journey and moved to new adventures. I would like to thank my supervisors for their invaluable support during the last three and a half years. I will always have great memories of my time at the UCL Energy Institute."
Joel has recently accepted an Energy Specialist role in Montreal (Canada) for a world-leading company in energy and mining. In this new role, Joel will continue working on reducing the emissions and generation costs of the mining industry.
