Shaping the urban sustainability research landscape – Public Engagement Fellowship

2 December 2013

zero carbon homes

What’s the role of the public in achieving low carbon urban futures? UCL-Energy and UCL ISR Research Associate Charlotte Johnson has been awarded a public engagement fellowship to explore this question.

Charlotte will look at how academic research on urban transitions assigns roles to “the public” and contrast this with real world experience. Over the next 12 months Charlotte will work with community groups, NGOs and public sector organisations to understand their research.  The fellowship will start with a broad consultation with London based groups and will lead to a number of collaborative research projects.

Masters students interested in doing applied research for their dissertation will have the opportunity to partner with an organisation or community group.

The first workshop will take place on January 16 2014. Participants include the GLA, NHS energy managers, and community groups who will discuss their experiences of implementing sustainability measures and their research questions.

If you are interested in being involved contact Charlotte.
