The project aims to develop a specifically urban application of transformative agroecology, itself closely linked to the concept of food sovereignty. The team includes activists involved in the London community food growers network, Landworkers’ Alliance and UK Food Sovereignty Movement. Its specific objective is to create a living lab for transformative urban agroecology based at the Calthorpe Project, King’s Cross, employing a place-based integrative methodology: the integrated experiment co-created and co-managed by participation of multi-stakeholders will incorporate research (i.e. citizen science), education (public learning), inclusive community development, progressive public policy (e.g. assessment, formation and advocacy) and enterprise (e.g. social enterprise, co-operatives and solidarity economy).
