My research focuses on applied urban economics and finance. I am particularly interested in using methods from applied microeconomics. Most of my projects try to understand how prices are formed or use prices to answer important economic questions on housing affordability, banking, tourism, investment, sustainability or household finance. I have recently published in the Economic Journal and Review of Finance.
I often apply my research to urban studies and since this field considers different topics to be important, prefers different methods and requires a different writing style, I address it in journals specific to this field such as Environment and Planning A: Economy and Space or Land Use Policy.
My consulting and advisory proejcts include forecasting, nowcasting and market analysis.
My work has been featured in leading non-academic outlets such as the Finacial Times, Harvard Business Review, World Economic Forum - Strategic Intelligence, the Guardian, Bloomberg Businessweek or IPE Magazine.
I hold an MPhil and a PhD from the University of Cambridge where I also taught as an affiliated lecturer. In 2017 I joined the London School of Economics (LSE) where I was a fellow in Economic Geography and a deputy director of the MSc in Real Estate Economics and Finance. I joined UCL in 2019 and became the director of the Bartlett Real Estate Insitute in 2020. I am also the foudning director of the MSc in Real Estate Economics and Investment Analyis which launched in 2021.
In addition to my academic career, I worked in consulting and in banking. I also consulted on numerous projects in real estate financial modelling, regional economic modelling and risk forecasting.
