Delegates from The UCL Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction (BSSC) recently concluded a week-long academic tour in China, visiting leading and high-ranking universities to explore avenues for collaboration in research and education.
BSSC delegation with Vice President of Beijing Jiaotong University
Led by the Director of BSSC Professor Priti Parikh and Professor Dabo Guan, the delegation visited Beijing Jiaotong University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Fudan University from 29 August to 3 September 2023.
The tour consisted of a series of workshops and meetings focused on academic research, carbon neutrality, and environmental policy with Professors Priti Parikh, Tim Broyd and Dabo Guan giving several presentations on infrastructure, carbon neutrality and digital transformation.
They also participated in academic dialogues covering a range of topics from sustainability to policy planning with the aim of setting a groundwork for future partnerships in research, exchange programs, and other joint initiatives.
This academic tour signals a broader effort to strengthen existing ties between the UK and Chinese educational institutions and comes at a time when international collaboration is increasingly essential for tackling global challenges such as climate change.
Prof. Priti Parikh said: “The delegation's tour successfully expanded our academic and international horizons, laying the groundwork for promising UK-China collaborations.”
