19 September 2023

BSSC Professor Jing Meng has received the AGU Global Environmental Change Early Career Award for 2023.

Jing Meng

This award is bestowed upon individuals for their meritorious work or service towards the advancement and promotion of discovery and solution science. AGU is a global community supporting more than half a million advocates and professionals in the Earth and space sciences. They annually recognise a select number of individuals as part of its Honors and Recognition program.

The Global Environmental Change Section awarded Professor Jing Meng for her impressive work on climate change and air pollution. Jing’s interdisciplinary approach links local air pollution to global consumption and investigates the impacts of socio-economic factors on emissions. Her work on climate change mitigation, energy policies, and global trade has garnered international recognition. Jing is now leading a group to model climate and energy policies' feasibility and economic impacts, particularly focusing on low-carbon transition pathways.

Honorees will be recognised at AGU23, an hybrid event which will convene more than 25,000 attendees from over 100 countries in San Francisco on 11-15 December 2023.

Jing said: "I am deeply honoured to receive the AGU 2023 Global Environmental Change Early Career Award. This recognition not only reflects the importance of addressing climate change and air pollution but also underscores the significance of interdisciplinary research in finding solutions. This award serves as a testament to my work. It provides the motivation to continue my work in advancing low-carbon transition pathways and making a lasting impact on the global environment. I am grateful for this acknowledgment, which reinforces my commitment to shaping a sustainable future."
