The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction

Africa has seen a seven fold increase in climate shocks over the last 30 years. Infrastructure service levels have increased from the Millennium Development Goal (MDG7) to the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG6). The population of Africa has almost doubled in the last 30 years placing pressure on available water resources and supplies. What are climate resilient water solutions for Africa? How can the infrastructure sector adapt to the climatic and demographic challenges across sub-Saharan Africa? This lecture will consider climate resilience across the infrastructure lifecycle and present financing, design, innovation and project management options based on industry experience.
