Research summary
My research focuses on the impact of digital technologies on
architecture and urbanism. This research has been developed through a number of
related activities.
I have extensively published on this subject culminating with the publication
of Digital Architecture Beyond Computers: Fragments of a Cultural History of
Computational Design (Bloomsbury Visual Arts, 2018). Writings on the
history of digital design and the role that AI will play in the design process
have published by Birkhauser and Wiley.
I have been lecturing and exhibiting internationally including: UK, USA,
China, Italy, Austria, and Portugal. My design work has been exhibited at the
Centre Pompidou [N2P2], at the Tulpenmanie
Gallery in Milan [DatArchitecture], at Site Unseen public
art exhibition, Chattanooga, USA, 2012], [35
Degrees], Xiamen Cina [Xiamen City Energy Masterplan, With Chora,
2009], and Places Festival, Porto, Portugal [Molecular City,
with T.Klein and T. Varoudis].
I have also been involved in several academic symposia either as an
organiser or chair. Partcuallry I have been organising the BPro Prosepctive
lecture series for the past three years in which international speakers have discussed
the history anf theory of computational design.
Finally, I have been actively contributing to debate on architectural
research by acting as reviewer for the following publishing companies: Wiley,
Bloomsbury, Routledge, and Springer as well as contributing to The Architectural
Review and Opere.
