At a design challenge event held earlier this month at iGuzzini’s headquarters, the Architects' Journal (AJ) and the lighting specialists iGuzzini invited six architectural practices to create proposals for successfully integrating light with architecture and the city.

AY Architects proposed that London should reclaim the night sky by using the smallest amount of lighting only where and when necessary. They argued for reintroducing darkness into the city to tackle the thorny issue of energy and light wastage. Their drawing focuses on connecting Kentish Town with Kenwood House in Hampstead via a dark green corridor.
