New Urban Design Bursary from Foster+Partners awarded

10 December 2014

Eleftherios Sergios

The second in a new series of Urban Design Bursaries sponsored by Foster+Partners has been awarded to B-Pro MArch Urban Design student Eleftherios Sergios.

Eleftherios began the MArch Urban Design in Autumn 2014, working in Research Cluster 11 under the guidance of Dr Adrian Lahoud and Dr Sam Jacoby. His work was selected for the Foster + Partners bursary on the basis of outstanding design and representational skills, creativity and academic achievement.

Eleftherios graduated from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in March 2011, where he completed a five-year diploma programme in Architectural Engineering. His research focuses on the spatial structures, histories, political contexts and evolution of cities and urban territories. His thesis project at NTUA evaluated the Valley of Kairatos River, Heraklion, Crete and examined the city's connection with the natural environment, history, culture and urban development. He has taken part in several national and international architectural competitions.

In this film, last year’s recipient, Loukia Illipoulou, talks about her work placement. Having completed the MArch Urban Design in September 2014, Loukia is now working as an Urban Designer at Foster + Partners.
