Bartlett senior lecturer awarded for excellent teaching
13 August 2012
Congratulations to Frosso Pimenides, BSc Year 1 Director at the Bartlett School of Architecture, who was awarded for her outstanding contribution to teaching at the UCL Provost’s Teaching Awards ceremony on July 10th 2012.
Frosso began her career at the Bartlett School of Architecture 22 years ago where she set up the new Year 1 Architecture course. At the start her main challenge was deciding on an agenda for initiating young people into education in Architecture and the skills that would be required. She says:
“Architecture education is unique in the sense that it is the antithesis of secondary education. We provide a radical shift for students who come to UCL with a fear of failure, discouragement from asking questions and a reluctance to take risks and be playful with their design work.”
She is one of eleven staff members from across UCL to receive an award.
