Speaker's introduction
Later than usual, but still in time to add some cheerful noise into the system, Peter Cook will give a series of lectures over the next few weeks, drawing on his long and varied experience designing, drawing, observing and disseminating architectural ideas: "Putting Noise into the System”.
Over the last year Peter has been involved in a number of invited competitions, producing a number of new drawings of ‘ideas’ projects, completing a small ‘Innovation Studio’ for the Arts University Bournemouth and most recently an exhibition of 120 of his drawings at the Louisiana Museum, near Copenhagen. Not only is this the most visited art museum in Scandinavia, but this is his largest ever solo show.
In the first lecture, Peter looks behind the scenes of the whole business of making and showing, and dealing with people's responses to such work. In the second lecture he will talk about the ideas behind the projects themselves.
In March he will give his annual ‘Archigram Remembered” talk to Year 1 students.
The subsequent lectures move outwards to include observations about ‘Influences and Copying”, materiality and “stuff”, and other matters.
