BREAK // LINE is a one-day event in February 2018 that will bring together designers and thinkers from across the School to form spontaneous collaborative outfits. Over the course of a studio day, partnerships will produce an original piece of work that is a negotiation between each individual's way of working.
The studio will be on show to the School and the public in order to showcase the collaborative process of drawing and making. The day will finish with a public exhibition, sound system, drinks, and a Q&A with the participants.
This is an exciting opportunity to test new design methods and work with the unknown. Alongside the exhibition, a film will be made that follows the creative collaboration on the day and all work will be documented in a publication after the event.
Applying to participate
BREAK // LINE is seeking participants with a range of media preferences: drawing / making / writing / photographing / performing and more. The event will bring together students who have similar interests but different methods of working. This is a call for designers who are open to working in ways that are quick / open-ended / inherently uncertain.
The BREAK // LINE organisers will arrange partnerships and then inform selected participants well in advance of the day so that they have a chance to meet their partner/s and discuss how their collaboration will take place.
How to apply
To apply, please send 300 words on your approach to drawing / making and what sort of people you might be interested in collaborating with, alongside 3 images of your previous / current work, to breaklineresidency@gmail.com.
