Adjustable Fast-Assembly Deployable Platform

Nan Di

The aim of the project is to utilise the hinge mechanism to create an adjustable and deployable platform system for remote semi-permanent structures. The four-way hinge system enables the substructure of the platform and to be structurally efficient at the same level, and, moreover, gives cheap materials like wood more potential to be used for semi-permanent structures.

By adjusting the length of the wood which used in the structure, we can achieve different geometries including rectangular patterns and radial patterns.

The shape of the platform could be adjustable by assembling the units differently and can create different platform layout. No matter how big the platform is, the four-way hinged locking joint makes the platform component unit compact during transportation and ensures fast assembly for use.
