UCL Faculty of Arts & Humanities
Alongside the traditional arts and humanities departments of English, Philosophy, Greek & Latin, and the School of European Languages, Culture & Society (SELCS), we are also proud to have the Slade School of Fine Art, Hebrew & Jewish Studies, Information Studies, and the Undergraduate Programmes in European & International Social & Political Studies, the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BASc), and the many inter-disciplinary MA Programmes as part of our Faculty.
Covid 19 / Coronavirus
In Steven Spielberg’s 2012 film, Lincoln, the Speaker of the House observes of the times he is living through: ‘This isn’t usual … this is history’. For all of us, I’m sure, there’s an acute sense at the moment of living through history, a feeling of being both overwhelmed by and incidental to the hugely traumatic events unfolding around us. I have been immensely proud and inspired to witness our faculty community uniting in new ways to address the unprecedented circumstances we find ourselves in.
Our priority at UCL is to support the health and wellbeing of our students and staff. As we become more accustomed to working, teaching, learning and existing remotely, of developing different ways of communicating and creating communities, I am grateful to our whole faculty community, who continue to work so effectively and creatively while looking after their own wellbeing, young children and elderly or vulnerable family and friends.
We are still very much a community and the links we are feeding and nurturing through this crisis will inform and enrich the brave new world into which we'll emerge in the as yet unknown future 'new normal'. We are working closely with the wider UCL community to coordinate the provision of information and support. Please use the links below to access the information you need.
