Former PhD student wins George C. Rogers Jr. Award

Dr Neil Kinghan has been awarded the George C. Rogers Jr. Award for his book, A Brief Moment in the Sun: Francis Cardozo and Reconstruction in South Carolina.
Dr Kinghan won the award for A Brief Moment in the Sun: Francis Cardozo and Reconstruction in South Carolina. He published the book in 2023 with Louisiana State University Press.
This biography is the result of work Dr Kinghan undertook during his PhD. Dr Kinghan completed his doctoral studies with the Institute of the Americas in 2019.
The South Carolina Historical Society presents the George C. Rogers Jr. Award every year. The prize goes to the author of the best book of South Carolina history published during the previous year.
