About the role

The UCL Institute of the Americas is seeking to fill a Lecturer (Teaching) position in Latin American History. The position is fixed-term with an expected start date of 1st September 2023, and an end date of 31st August 2024) to cover a member of academic staff who holds a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship.

The role holder will carry out teaching and administration within the Institute of the Americas, especially in the area of the history of Latin America from 1800 onwards. We expect the postholder to convene the undergraduate team-taught module AMER0074: History and Politics of Latin America c.1930 to the Present. They will also deliver the undergraduate module AMER0083: Latin American Revolutions and the postgraduate module AMER0027: Histories of Exclusion: Race and Ethnicity in Latin America. They will also contribute to the first-year undergraduate module AMER0038: Encountering the Americas, and the second-year core module AMER0053: Research Methods, and take on administrative responsibilities in the department.

About you

Applicants must have a PhD in History or related discipline. They should have proven experience of teaching and assessment at university level in Latin American History, as well as research and/or teaching expertise in Latin American history from 1800 onwards.
