Par Engstrom chairs at international conference on human rights
21 April 2021
Latin America is currently experiencing increasing political instability and threats to human rights, peace and security: from insurgent groups competing for territorial control to gang warfare, increased drug, trafficking, suppression of dissent and forced migration.

Dr Par Engstrom acted as moderator at a recent international conference on human rights.
The seminar, 'Human Rights and Peace and Security Nexus in the Americas', was organised by the Swedish Foundation for Human Rights, as part of the Swedish Forum for Human Rights which took place between April 19 and 21 2021. It brought together distinguished panellists such as Viviana Krsticevic from the Center for Justice and International Law, and Jared Genser, Special Advisor to the Organisation of American States (OAS), amongst others. Antonia Urrejola, President of the Inter-American Commission for Human Rights was the key-note speaker for this session.
