After finishing my Masters in Latin American Studies at the Institute in September, I did two journalism internships; one for a lifestyle magazine called Glass Magazine and the other for the Caribbean Council, a small not-for-profit consultancy firm that focuses on fostering better relationships between the UK and the Caribbean and Central America.

I had the opportunity to review restaurants, exhibitions and hotels for Glass and write up the business news from each island in the Caribbean and each Central American country for the Caribbean Council's publications.

In January, I started a graduate scheme at the Verdict Network, the journalism branch of GlobalData. I have mainly been writing for a business-to-business drinks industry site, but I have also done a rotation at Verdict.co.uk, a global business and economics site. I have written about a whole host of subjects, ranging from lithium mining, trafficking in Côte D'Ivoire and blockchain, but I have tried to make use of my Masters and write about exciting political events in Latin America. I am currently working on a piece about Cuba's new President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, and what the transfer of power could mean for Cuba's future.
