Our students and the cost of living: A message from Students' Union UCL to the alumni community
14 November 2022
Students’ Union UCL Education Officer, Hamza Ahmed, and Students’ Union UCL Welfare and Community Officer, Umair Mehmood, share the ways in which students are being impacted by the rising cost of living and how our alumni community can help.
Can you help us to ensure that every student who needs it can access support at this time?
Last month we launched our alumni appeal, setting out our response to the cost of living crisis and how you can help. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.
Since the start of this academic year, we have seen:
In addition to distributing hardship funding, the UCL and Students' Union UCL financial support package is supporting students with bursaries, increased doctoral stipends, emergency loans, and mental health support.
With the support from our alumni community, our support package can go even further. We’ll be able to support even more students and provide a full and comprehensive package of student support.
While we know that nobody is immune from the impact of the cost of living crisis in the UK and beyond, we hope that those in our alumni community, who are able to, will consider giving to the One UCL Fund.
Your support will ensure the next generation of UCL alumni can navigate their university journey and thrive at UCL without financial hardship holding them back.
